Each piece is handmade by Helen in the Dunbeacon Pottery studio in west Cork. That involves preparing the clay, throwing, shaping and trimming the piece on the wheel, drying, first firing, applying a glaze, more drying and second firing. Each step has to be done carefully to ensure the quality of the piece and neighbouring pieces. This is artisan craftsmanship, not mass production. When you purchase these products you are supporting a person who has trained and developed these pottery skills to produce objects of beauty, durability and practical function.
